International Human Rights

As executive director for Youth for Human Rights International, Tim Bowles is committed to establishing and preserving human dignity and integrity -- and particularly the rights of children -- against the seemingly crushing odds of population, poverty, illiteracy and human exploitation. YHRI is dedicated to teaching youth worldwide the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and thus enable those young people to become advocates for religious, political and cultural tolerance and justice.

Along with Liberian Jay Yarsiah, Ghanaian Sammy Jacobs Abbey and a host of dedicated African and American volunteers, Mr. Bowles has created the African Human Rights Leadership Campaign as a pilot project of Youth for Human Rights International. The Campaign -- active in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Ghana since 2006 and now expanding to Togo and Ethiopia -- is a growing initiative designed to inspire and equip young people to create futures worth living in their communities and countries.
